It happens every year at this time in the Real Estate world… the holiday “slow down” is here. This is the time of year that we tend to focus less on buying and selling Real Estate and more on parties, holiday cookies, and preparation for the big day. Little do homebuyers know that this is THE BEST…did I mention THE BEST…time to purchase real estate. Why? The answer is simple:
1. Inventory levels tend to climb (lower closed transaction count is largely to blame here).
2. There are less buyers in the market place causing less competition for homes and more opportunity to negotiate with sellers.
3. Sellers are MUCH more motivated … why? See #1 and #2 and, quite frankly, selling a home takes time, preparation, and there is an opportunity for a seller to be “inconvenienced” with showings when they would much rather be watching holiday movies, wrapping presents, or entertaining guests.
